Spray Foam Insulation Cost in Ottawa
Spray foam insulation in Ottawa not only saves you money over time, it also provides a more comfortable environment. Because every building is different, we do not publish flat prices.
The Factors That Determine Your Estimate
Open-cell foam uses less material and is typically the more affordable option, while closed-cell foam is denser, delivers the highest R-value per inch and qualifies as a moisture and vapour barrier. As a rule of thumb from our own product line, closed-cell material runs roughly twice the cost of open-cell foam. Many projects use each type where it performs best.
Spray foam is priced in part by how much material is applied. Open-cell foam delivers about R-3.7 per inch and closed-cell about R-6 per inch, so the R-value target for your attic, walls or crawl space directly affects how much foam is sprayed. Because foam air seals as it insulates, you often need less thickness than conventional materials to reach the same result.
The total square footage being insulated is the biggest driver of cost. Access matters too: a wide-open new construction attic is faster to spray than a cramped existing crawl space, and hard-to-reach areas take more time and care.
If your project involves removing contaminated batts, blown fiberglass or blown cellulose first, that removal and disposal work is part of the scope. Our insulation removal page explains what that involves.
New builds and major renovations let us spray efficiently before finishes go in. Retrofit projects in finished spaces can require more preparation and protection work, which is reflected in the estimate.
How Spray Foam Pays You Back
Spray foam insulation can cut thermal and energy charges by up to 50%, which is why so many Ottawa homeowners treat it as an investment rather than an expense. The savings come from several directions:
- Improved efficiency and reduced air loss can lower monthly energy bills.
- One product can provide three functions: insulator, air barrier and moisture barrier, which can lower construction costs.
- Spray foam can lower maintenance costs on roofing systems over time.
- Homeowners, builders and designers may be able to qualify for energy-efficiency incentives, rebates or certification programs; ask us what may apply to your project.
The only reliable way to know what spray foam insulation will cost for your home or building is a project-specific estimate. Ours are free. Call (613) 777-0096 or use our contact page to request yours today.
Questions
Common questions
What decides the price of spray foam?
Foam type, installed depth, the area covered and prep work. Every estimate itemizes all four.
Is the estimate really free?
Yes. Free, written and itemized before any work begins.
Open-cell or closed-cell, which costs more?
Closed-cell costs more per board foot and delivers a higher R-value per inch plus a moisture barrier; open-cell covers more area per dollar.
